  • Setting of Kajrare song: Before the song, Bunty (played by Abhishek Bachchan) is sitting at a bar and talking to an older man named Dashrath Singh (Amitabh Bachchan). Bunty does not know that the older man is a policeman. Bunty and Babli (Rani Mukherji) are swindlers and want to avoid the police at any cost. Dashrath Singh is trying to catch these two criminals but does not know what they look like, so the two men do not know each other's identity. The two men are getting acquainted and getting drunk when a beautiful courtesan (Aishwarya Rai)  tries to get their attention by making seductive moves. The younger man thinks that she is calling him, but she clarifies that she is interested in the older man.

  • Kajrare Kajrare song lead dancer: The leading dancer in the song is Aishwarya Rai (now Aishwarya Rai Bachchan). She was a well-established actress when this movie was made, but she made a guest appearance in this movie. This is the only song in this movie in which Aishwarya Rai appeared.

  • Meaning of the word Kajrare in the Kajrare Kajrare song:  Kajrare is a Hindi word, which means kohl-lined or containing kohl.  Kohl is a black and greasy substance. It is used as eye makeup to make eyes look beautiful and expressive in many Eastern countries. Since kohl is black and dark, Kajrare can also mean dark as kohl.  In the song, kajrare is used to describe the dancer's beautiful eyes.

  • Kajrare song and dance is a family affair: The three leading characters in this song (Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai) are part of the same family now. Aishwarya Rai was not married when Kajra re song was recorded, but she married the lead actor Abhishek Bachchan later.  The couple has been married for over a decade and have a daughter. So, in this song, the lead dancer, Aishwarya Rai, was dancing with her future husband and father-in-law.

  • Kajrare Kajrare Song Singers: One of the three lead singers in the song was Shankar Mahadevan. He is also one of the three music composers in the trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy team. He carries on the tradition of singing some of his own compositions. Other musicians, such as, A.R. Rahman and S.D. Burman have also done this earlier. Shankar Mahadevan did playback singing for Abhishek Bachchan. Javed Ali was the playback singer for Amitabh Bachchan, and Alisha Chinai was the lead female singer.

  • Kajrare song lyrics unsuitable for dancer Aishwarya Rai: In the lyrics of the kajrare song, the entire line says "kajrare, kajrare tere kare kare naina".  The later part "tere kare, kare naina" means "your dark (black) eyes". Most Indians have dark brown or black eyes, so many Indian songs and poetry contain words to praise black eyes, but the lead dancer Aishwarya Rai has exceptionally light colored eyes. People with eyes of such light color are difficult to find in India.  Aishwarya Rai has beautiful eyes, but the lyrics of the song do not suit her eye color.  Rani Mukherji is another Bollywood actress with light colored eyes.

  • Kajrare Kajrare song music composers: The song was composed by a team of three musicians Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa. They have composed music and songs for many other Bollywood films as well. For example, their music in movie Dil Chahta Hai was well liked, but those songs did not become as popular as this song.

  • Funny version of Kajrare Kajrare song from Movie Dor: A short and delightful version of this song comes from Nagesh Kukunoor's movie Dor. In this version, a recently widowed woman Meera (Ayesha Takia dressed in purple) is taking two friends to her late husband's favorite place. On the way, they hear the song. The two women quickly get off the camel and all three people start dancing to the music. All three actors, Gul Panag, Ayesha Takia and Shreyas Talpade (man dressed in white), have performed the dance in a very amusing way. In particular, Shreyas Talpade's dance is hilarious. In the movie, all three characters are going through major problems in their lives, but this song provides a temporary relief to them. They forget about their troubles for a little while and enjoy themselves. This version is quite different from the original song but just as entertaining.
